Jamtamot is Jämtlands council: Founded in the first half of the 10th century and still extant, it is one of the oldest councils in the world. In the time after its foundation, Jämtland was practically a republic. It had annual gatherings at Bynäset, a peninsula on Frösön island (The same peninsula where I placed Shirin’s home, actually!)
